Kansas City Jazz

While no city has played a more significant role in crating America's music than New Orleans jazz has been altered and improved upon by it's evolution in many cities across America. Some say that Chicago blues civilized and expanded the art form and is more important in the jazz revolution that NYC. Few however would say that some of the most important advances happened in Kansas City. That view is accurately and artfully defended in the new book by Frank Driggs and Chuck Haddix. Titled "Kansas City Jazz" this great book makes the case that KC's influence came not just from bebop but from many other areas.

Human experience effects music. As outlined in the essay, "Music form and Music Type" by L. Ron Hubbard music delivers a message. The message is clear, Kansas City and it's musicians changes jazz and changed music in America.

No one like Miles

If ever there was a single art who represented the evolution of Bebop it was Miles Davis. Thought of by many as a progressive player Miles roots were in Bebop. With guidance from Charlie Parker and Dizzy he took their lead and created a new sound. That sound eventually morphed into what most people think is Mile's greatest effort, the famous "Bitches Brew".

The CD that best represents his Bebop skills is THE MILES DAVIS QUINTET:The Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions.
